Intergenerational Learning

Hudson Lab School is located at Andrus on Hudson, a skilled nursing home. Our unique location provides our students with the opportunity for intergenerational learning. We collaborate with Joanne Corrigan, the intergenerational coordinator who heads up the Roots & Sprouts program at Andrus on Hudson.

Young students and senior residents alike light up in one another’s presence. They tell one another stories, play games together, and build the kind of meaningful friendships that can only develop over time. As part of their Design Thinking projects, students often interview seniors. They gain empathy and develop a deep understanding of the people in their community.
